If you are a hat lover and have not seen The Women yet, hop on line and rent that movie stat. Only women are seen and the hats create the most divine exhibit of 1930's millinery and fashion that I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. I want to make all the hats from the movie but this funky little number worn by Rosalind Russell always stands out. While I have no idea what color it is in the black and white film, I had a slip of shocking pink silk on hand and knew it would be perfect for this fascinator. The netting over the top is trimmed with whimsical chenille balls in black and the hat attaches with an elastic under your hair at the back. The fabric reminds me of little sails on a boat, here to take us away to a place where everyone is sporting hats like this! As far as the name, it was rumored that one of the actresses on set chose to knit an afghan with the loudest knitting needles she could find during the star's main monologue. I can't imagine!
